Shaving the principal’s beard…

Although we get frustrated with the school system and complain quite a bit – today our lovely daughter, Melinda (along with a bunch of other students) was allowed to participate in shaving the elementary schools principal’s beard off. If you score 100 percent on just one of the many tests that make up the CSAP you get the honor to shave his beard. So many people in schools fight the CSAP testing and try to find ways to avoid taking it. This charter school neither touts how great it is nor complains about it. Instead, they simply try to use it as a tool and try to find ways to get the children to do well. This little bet the principal made last year was one way to encourage the kids to do well on the CSAP. Melinda got to be the last child to shave some of his beard while all the children from kindergarten to seventh grade got to watch and cheer her on. It was obviously a great excuse for the kids to get a little rowdy – though I think Melinda wants to shave my beard.
